The KTM brand was launched in 1934, in the years before the outbreak of World War II. The factory building was converted into a hospital, and the KTM motorcycles were stored in the local garage. After the war, the company began to sell their bikes again, and two years later, they were re-launched under the brand name of “KTM.” Since then, KTM has grown to become one of the world’s most popular bike manufacturers. The Austrian engineers started their careers producing aircraft, automobiles, and motorboats, and over the years, they learned to make engines that could produce high-revving, racing-grade power. KTM AG today consists of 4 sub-brands, which form the KTM Group: KTM, Husqvarna, RC and Bajaj. KTM is the largest motorcycle manufacturer of the company, while Husqvarna is an off-road vehicle manufacturer. The Husqvarna brand is closely tied with KTM, which is manufactured at the same factory. The Bajaj-controlled Husqvarna brand is focused on off-road vehicles, while KTM focuses on dual-sport motorcycles. Bajaj Auto also manufactures the Bajaj Xtreme and Bajaj CT 100, the largest 100cc motorcycle in India. In Australia, KTM produces over 1,200 bikes a month. However, in the past, the production has been limited to 250 bikes per month due to production restrictions and quality concerns. In the United States, KTM bikes are produced in New Braunfels, Texas and in Colorado, and in other countries, KTM produces around 800 bikes a month.
